boon's log 2107.03: Random stuffs...

Remember when I talked about BMI and being overweight, bla bla bla? Well, that was about 1.5 months ago. (click) And now, 1.5 months later, (drum roll please), I am pleased to announce that I've lost 3.5 kgs (that's 7.7 lbs)and I've got another 2.5 to go! Unfortunately, the spare tyre is still rather visible. gosh, I sound like a lady. Anyways, all in the name of health. But I guess if you are slightly above the BMI limit, but healthy - it's o-k-a-y.

*~*~*~*~*~*~
Lily started blogging. Hurrah! Here's the portal. Catch her if you can... Welcome to the world of blogging, sista. By the way, she's already complaining about blogging in her second entry - so she may need some encouragement, people.

*~*~*~*~*~*~
Ab's growing up quick - she had her first constipation last weekend and that kinda brought the entire in-law side of the family together around her... Poor darling was trying hard to get the stool out, but it was just not happening. We had to bring her to the docs and with the help of some medication, she's been having GREAT bowel movements - somehow TOO MUCH bowel movements. Yup, she had a slight diarrhea after the first dose, and we stopped the meds and now she's back to normal. Bombs' away!

She's also trying to balance on all fours, which is quite a sight, as she will sway from front to back when she tries the balancing act! Ha ha... I guess, crawling and sitting will be coming up next, pretty soon. Exciting...

Posted this following photo that we saw a while ago, to The Star newspaper - but I doubt that they will publish it... Anyways, I thought it was kinda funny when I first saw it.

What are they selling here?! (you may need to click to enlarge to be able to view this one...)

boon's log 2107.01: Draw me close to you...

I popped in a Michael W Smith CD last weekend whilst driving around town and it kind of touched me deeply. Not that it was the first time that I heard it. In fact, the guys who compiled our wedding album had this as one of the theme songs during the video presentations (I was surprised as they were not a Christian organization)... no matter what stage in life you're at, where ever you are, what ever you are doing... I hope this song reaches out to you too...

Draw Me Close To You (Kelly Carpenter,(C) 1994 Mercy/Vineyard Publishing)

Draw me close to You
Never let me go
I lay it all down again
To hear You say that I’m Your friend

You are my desire
No one else will do
’Cause nothing else could ever take Your place
To feel the warmth of Your embrace
Help me find the way
Bring me back to You

You’re all I want
You’re all I’ve ever needed
You’re all I want
Help me know You are near

I then went surfing into Michael's website a little and bumped into one of my all time favourite albums....

The First Decade 1983-1993

Kungfutofu: Remember this album, buddy?! We were much younger then, huh? ;) If I remember correctly, I only had the cassette version of the album. I feel like getting the CD now - not sure whether I'll still be able to find it though... great compilation and collection.

still recovering from Friday... Hope your week started off on the right note and a productive week ahead.

boon's log 2007.05: Are you Free?

Some people just have the most interesting names... I just discovered that someone actually has the name, Free. Yup, no kidding, Mr. Free! Here's the proof...

Free...

It kinda reminded me of the scene where Jacky Chan thought that Chris Tucker was dead in a bomb blast in Rush Hour 2, where...
Jacky: I thought you were dead?
Chris: Who?
Jacky: You!!!
Chris: Inspector Yu?!

ha ha ha... anyway... here's my variation from that scene... It is set in the padi fields in a small village in a small province in mainland China, where Mr Free, Mr Hu and Mr Yu lived...

Yu was talking to Free while working the fields:

Yu: Hey, are you Free?
Free: Nope. Hu is free

Then Mr Hu came along after breakfast...

Hu: What are you guys talking about? Who is free?
Free: You?
Hu: Yu is Free?
Yu (talking to Free): What? Hey, wait-a-minute! I'm not Free... I thought YOU are Free!!!
Free: I am. But Hu is also Free…
Yu: Really? Hu is also free?
Free: Yeah, Hu!
Hu: Who?
Free: Yeah, you!
Hu: Yu is Free?!
Free: No, not Yu! Dumbass, You are Free.
Hu and Yu: But we though you are Free?!

Silence…

Free: I am, but Hu is also free…

Okay... bad joke... so what, I'm having a bad Friday.

Hope your Friday is MUCH better than mine.

boon's log 2007.02: Sudoku... it's addictive!

Yeah, I had to admit, I was one of those who looked from the outside and wondered to myself, why are these people to crazy about this number-puzzle game? Crazy people! Even some of my cousin-in-laws bought books after books of Sudoku.

Well, recently, my department had something like a dept-level Sudoku challenge during one of the department business meetings. So I cannot help but to give it a try... and that was it! I was caught in the Sudoku web. Now, on an average, I try to finish 2 puzzles - one online, and another one from The Star. Well, it's a lot of mental arithmetic and strategies. If you actually visit the Sudoku website in UK, you will discover that they have multiple strategies to solve Sudoku puzzles... hidden triple, naked pairs, X-Wing, Sword-fish, Bowman Bingo... gosh, the list goes on!

Anyway, as a newbie to this, I'll just stick to the easier puzzles and try to solve 'em without having to use some Star-Wars-Fighter-Plane strategy. Last weekend, IL and I tried out hands on the "Diabolical Level" puzzle... We started on Saturday afternoon and it took IL 3 days to complete it! I gave up on Sunday. That's like the level where you need to beat the big-boss (like that when playing arcade games)...

Sudoku... it's addictive!

It's an interesting game. Try it! You may get addicted to it too! ;)

boon's log 1807.03 [supplementary A]: Masuk-la!

Caught Into the Blue recently. Yeah, that sea flick where The Fast and The Furious meets the Dark Angel. It was so-so. Honestly, I'm sure majority of the folks caught the movie either because of Paul Walker or Jessica Alba. I caught it on Star World - there was nothing else to watch. (yeah, right!)

There was this part where Bryce (Scott Caan) radioed Jared (Paul Walker) from under the sea - Jared was on the boat.

Bryce: "Jared, come in"

Guess what the Malay subtitles were?

Bryce: "Jared, masuklah" - literally translated as "Come in".

I wonder what would the subtitles be if I were to say "Over and out!"?

"Lepas dan Keluar!"?

boon's log 1807.03: 4 more days and counting...

Yup, 4 more days and then back to work. Guess I will really need a few days to crank start the engine when I do get back to work on Monday.

My parents were in town for a long weekend as well, and yesterday, being a big Buddhist festival and all, we brought my parents and grandma to the PBA, no, not the Perbadanan Bekalan Air... but the Penang Buddhist Association, for them to pay their respects. Man, was the place crowded. But surprisingly, traffic wasn't as bad as I thought. Probably because most people would have expected bad traffic, thus decided to take their motorcycles, instead. Car-type traffic was not bad at all.

Here are some pictures.

Array of lotus-shaped candles

This act is called bathing the Buddha

Yes, even dogs can go and pray!

The traffic in the temple is worse than the traffic outside...

Oh yeah, and Happy Labor Day!
