boon's log 2605.05: My dog ate my phone... almost (!!!)

Here's Dopey after IL fed him with my phone. Yeah... 'twas much effort to regain possesion of my phone - not to mention the effort needed to clean it!

boon's log 2605.04: Prim and Proper

Saw this guy riding his bike (bicycle, that is) while we were visiting a friend in Taiping. Only had my K500 handy at that time (I know what WH is going to say again...)

Prim and Proper

Looks like the Taiping-ites put a lot of weight into how they present themselves...

boon's log 2605.03: Harry's Ramp

Sunshine Square near the Bayan Lepas area just received a new look (internally, at least. Externally, it still looks drab). Anyway, we parked in the shaded carpark and were walking down to McDonald's, like what other normal folks do. Amidst the brand new and shining 2-by-2's, is this following sign...

Harry's Ramp

Looks like Harry has been keeping himself busy pushing carts up this ramp. Flipping out his magic wand, he goes...

boon's log 2605.02 (Supplementary A): Three... Extremes

Managed to watch Three... Extremes (Box/Dumplings/Cut) last weekend. Apparently, the movie received pretty good reviews and also awards. But for IL and I, we did not find it THAT good and really, nothing to shout about. Among others, it received the following awards:

* 2005 Hong Kong Film Awards
Winner, Best Supporting Actress: Bai Ling
* 2005 Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards Winner, Film of Merit
* 2005 Golden Horse Awards
Winner, Best Supporting Actress: Bai Ling
* 2005 Catalonia Film Festival
Winner, Best Make-up

Well, in a nutshell, the movie pretty much grossed us up - that's for sure. If that is the intent of the Writer/Director, then I guess they've pretty much succeeded - especially with "Dumplings". Then again, perhaps we were not that artistically-inclined to appreciate the movie.

"Box" was a little shallow and confusing at times, jumping from reality into dreamworld until one does not know whether it is a dream or reality (again, this may have been the original intent... Clap! Clap! Clap!).

And finally, "Cut" - IL gave up watching and went to take her shower at this point of time... while I still watched on - thought I give it a final chance of being a moderate movie. Again - shallow and the ending was horribly anti-climatic. Sigh, totally wasted my time. I think the first installment of Three was much better than this. I'd give it a 3/10.

According to another write-up, "Dumpling" has also been released separately as a 90-minute film on it's own. Read more about these three horror-ible stories here. This write-up gave the movie-combo a big 8. Wow... amazing.

boon's log 2505.05: Is it Friday yet?

It's Friday, but somehow, the feeling of the weekend has really yet to sink in. Possibly because it is already seven past seven on a Friday evening and I am still stuck at work, gazing at my screen like a lifeless zombie locked to my PC...

Picture taken in Sorrento, Italy.

... and it looks like I am still going to be here for a while.

Heard that there is a party going on over at WH's place - you guys might want to give him a call - his number is 0124... something, darn, slipped my mind. ;P

Anyway, it's Father's Day weekend. Knock yourselves out dads!!! Kick open the beer box, flip on the ESPN and just drop on the couch like a dead walrus... waitaminute - that's what I do on weekends (or at least on some weekends! :P) Anyways, have a good one, you deserve it.

As for me, the weekend is still some distant reality...

boon's log 2505.04: Inside Out

Q and I were walking down the stairs as we were going out for lunch on Tuesday. As we were trotting down, I saw that the lady in front of us had her buttoned-blouse on the reverse - she was wearing her shirt inside-out! At first, I saw the side-tag that has the washing instructions and then confirmed it with the tag that was just below the collar - and the blouse was bright orange!

Whispered softly to Q, ***dude, she has her baju inside out***

We exchanged looks and we were wondering whether we should tell her? How we should tell her? How to break it to her? Before we could finalized our next action plan, the lady took a turn and walked in a different direction than us... OH! And there was this guy who was walking behind us (not sure whether he heard our little "Action Plan discussion") but he, apparently, knows the lady in front of us, because as she was walking in the other direction, he walked up to her and started to talk to her...

It was actually quite hard for her not to notice it because the side tag was rubbing against her right arm and she was walking... Anyway, did not see the lady the rest of the afternoon - not sure whether she realized it or not... we hope she did. But then again, it may just very well be fashion... Call me old-fashion.

Here's another shot of Amalfi

boon's log 2505.02: SMART Parking

I believe they have a special driving training class for those people who buys a SMART car (!!!). We saw this during our time in Paris (where Smart cars in Paris are like bicycles in China)...

SMART parking

Is this legal? If were to do this here, would we get a ticket for this?

boon's log 2505.01: Freddie and Jason's Ride

IL and I were having a break at the Greelane McDonald's last Saturday (by the way, this particular McD is really one heck of a popular place - anytime you pass-by this place, you'll most probably see hoards of cars parked in the carpark, and the restaurant loaded with people).

Anwyay, on our way out, we must have just missed Freddie and Jason (whom I think were having a "special" Big Mac in that particular McDonald's because their ride was parked just outside in the compound)...
