boon's log 0708.06: Arrived safely...

We've finally arrived safely. The relocation process is always a drag; but we've finally managed to arrive safely and settled in (headache phase One). Now awaiting shipments and all the unpacking (headache phase two).

Mommy's love: on the longest haul, i.e. 13-hr flight to SF

The flight over was surprisingly okay - with Ab sleeping 90% of the entire trip. We broke down the trip such that she does not need to be in the plane for more than 13 hours and whenever we were in transit, we made sure that she walks around and tires herself out before re-boarding the flight again. :) And, yup, it works! Happyluyah!

Ee-Ee's (Aunt's) love: Farewell/CNY Fireworks display just for Ab's entertainment (and the rest of the family, of course)

Both mom and kiddo are doing okay on arrival, except for the dad who was down with a bad migraine and fever and sized-up with a bad gum-ulcer. Was it hell or was it hell! Thanks to the super-mom who had to take care of the little and the big baby!

Also managed to meet up with WH, Chuwy, Janet and de kids (Sophia and Sean) before we left - pics're with WH. It's been a long time since the few of us got together. There were a few other get togethers that did not happen due to our busy schedules (how typical! Excuses! Excuses!) - i.e. the one with Mithz, the one with Aimes, the one with Wekgna. Sorry guys. We'll definitely meet when we get back next! OH!, the one with Mithz & WH DID happen, but just 2/3 complete - Mithz had an urgent work-call that he had to attend to - no worries, bro...

We also met up with GP and KY at this interesting Japanese Restaurant along Leith Street (Obake or something like that) that has a Jail-like theme/setting. Well, the idea is fresh (for Penang standard - more of these culturely-challenged themed restaurants are coming up in Penang, e.g. the Toilet Bowl restaurant in Queensbay Mall; not sure how the locals will take it. Well, it will definitely attract the younger generation, but the older genenerations.... maybe not). But the food at this Obake is so-so and the price is a little steep (perhaps to cover for the hefty decor). IL had it the worst because she discovered that she was munching cling-foil while chowing-down her shabu-shabu. We hailed the Mgr and, as expected, we only got a free shabu-shabu (not the entire bill - 4 of us) :(. Oh and Green Tea is served at RM2 per cup (though the menu says RM5.90). I guess we won't be going back there again...

Back to our relocation, a very special appreciation to MI who've helped us a lot by driving his "lorry" (MPV) over to the airport to help us with our luggages at 0000hrs at (freaking) below-zero temperatures! We owe you one, bro. And helped carried them up our third floor apt, at 0300hrs - there was a 3hr time lapse because stupid Hertz took 2 (freaking) hours to give us our car (Komputer Down - now where have I heard that before? Hmmm...). I bet we must've awaken some of the neighbours at that unearthly hour(!!!). And thanks for the fried bee hoon too - our love to Sya!

Ab's having the jetlag - waking up at odd hours (0330hrs), crying, and would not go back to sleep until like 0500hrs. So, it's not really helping our (IL's and my)jetlag either :S. sigh... (Again) I bet the neighbours are "loving" us for the "midnight calls". Hope she recovers soon, then we all(and I mean ALL) will have some peace. :)

Ok, gotta gotta catch some zees before the routine midnight call in abt 2hrs. :S blog more later.

boon out...
