Extreme Weathers
We've just finished watching "The Day After Tomorrow" not too long ago. And recently, Penang has been facing really extreme weathers, which made think of that movie. Just a week ago, almost every single Penangite has been complaining about the haze (refer to Q's write up on the haze) and about how it hasn't been raining. I even read somewhere about water rationing due to the drought in the Klang Valley. Visibility was down to a few hundred meters (or less). You can see from all the cars that passed by has a layer of dust on them.

Then suddenly, it is as if God answered our prayers and opened up heaven and the rain came pouring down and it continued to rain for almost a week, with intermittent stops in the middle. Gosh... even until today, it hasn't really stopped. So no more haze, but visibility is not improving either, with the heavy downpour, visibility is down to less than a few hundred meters again! :P But I prefer the rain. At least the air is fresher and washes away the air pollution.

I managed to catch the glimpse of the Sun, peeping through the clouds during one of the intermittent moments when the rain stopped. Again, I was on the bridge...

Well, hope that where ever you are reading boonspot from, you are no longer caught in the hazy dry spell and already moved into the raining category - remember to bring your umbrellas with you, not that it will help much with the strong winds and heavy rain... :P

Stupid White Men
No, I am not being a racist and have no intention of being one. It is a book that I picked up recently from MPH called "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore. A real good insight into the darkest secrets of the "The Most Powerful Man on the Globe" and what "he" does not want you to know.

In the introduction to the book itself, Michael talks about how this book nearly did not make to the bookshelves - even in a country who boasts of the Freedom of Speech (First Amendment). And how a simple librarian can actually help to get the book published and made it into the market and have one out of the millions of copies sold, to end up on the my lap...

An interesting read. I am half way through and strongly recommend it. There are other follow-up books written by Michael like "Dude, Where's my Country?". He is hilarious (and sacarstic at times) but he does drive the message home... Pick it up if you have the time.

Jammed on the bridge
I was returning home and was jammed up on the bridge (what's new?!). It really frustrates me somewhat when at the end of the jam, you find out that you just jammed up for nothing - really. It's probably because

(a) some driver(s) who've decided to drive 50 or 60km/h below the bridge speed limit. Road-Hoggers! Or

(b) some driver(s) decide to cut the queue at one of the exits and got stuck there because the people who are properly queueing up wouldn't let them in, thus preventing everyone else behind him/her who does not want to exit from moving forward. Or

(c) [the more popular one] people slowing down to take good look at the unfortunte victims of an accident (which happens to be on the opposite side of the bridge! Uh... HELLO?)

Well, in this case, there was no accident at the end jam. So it is probably (a) or (b)It took me about half an hour to clear the jam.

Well, trying to look on the bright side, it is only at times like this, when you are stuck in a jam on the bridge, you get to enjoy and appreciate the scenic view of the bridge (a close-up view) with the sunset behind it. Well, I was trying very hard...

... and also the how the driver in front keeps on stepping on the brakes unnecessarily...
