boon's log 3605.03: Land of the Free...

Somehow, the old saying, "There is no such thing as 'free'" does not necessarily apply to every situation. There are times when things are really free and there is no catch to it!

Take for example two weeks before my driving test. There is a requirement that all the windows of my car needs to be clean - safety issue. And what do you know, a new car wash just opened around the corner and is giving free car wash for a limited period of time. Just the basic external body wash, of course. Must have been God-sent. Anyway, got the coupon and went for it. Hertz must have been really glad. Anyway, done with STAF* Example No.1.

Now, STAF* Example No.2. If you log on to www.netflix.com, you will find that you can get a free-trial for NetFlix's DVD-Rental-OnLine service for a whole two weeks. No catch. You can try for free their One-DVD-at-a-Time, Two-DVDs-at-a-Time, or Three-DVDs-at-a-Time program for free, for two weeks. Now, which one will you choose? Hmm... Tough decision, isn't it? Err... Hello-o?! Of course the three-DVDs one lah.

Anyway, yes, we are now enjoying the free service and to be diplomatic - yes, we are contemplating whether we want to continue with the service, meaning paying for the monthly rental program, for as many DVDs as you can watch within a month. Whoa - sounded like a challenge, ain't it?

So, watch lah, every single movie that they have until your eyes pop out and vomit your guts out! Not that many-what, by the way... 40,000 titles only-what... chicken feet lah... :P

No such thing as Free? Think again...

Anyway, as some of you may know, Blockbuster (or as my "colleague-who-is-so-caught-up-with-using-acronym-in-the-office", KYT, calls it, BB) is not doing very well in the Movie/Game Rental business, because of Mr. NetFlix here. They have also started a similar program of their own... www.blockbuster.com. AND thank God for Healthy Competition - we can now further enjoy another 2-week of free movie rental before we can decide which program to choose from! Ain't this great?! I think this is awesome... Gosh... I'm feeling a little dizzy now...

Yeap, peerflix is free, the best thing is that you can keep what DVD that you like after swaping with peers...

For comments, spam, yes, I have the same problem, turn on the word verification feature, it will help...
