Night at the movies...
Went to catch i,Robot tonight. Overall, the movie was quite entertaining. Don't know why the reviews were not that good about the movie. Yeah, the storyline was quite predictable and all that (actually, there is one part of the movie that was not totally predictable - the bad guy...) but overall, I think the movie was quite okay. Definitely earned more than just 3.5 stars (GSC rating).

boon gives   (4 hoochies).

Anyway, the reason I am blogging about this was the experience while watching the movie.

-Chapter One-
First was the encounter at the popcorn counter. There was this lady in front of me who took like a lifetime to just order a popcorn combo. She started with, "Hi I want some popcorn."
Popcorn Lady at Counter(PL@ C): "I'm sorry." - probably shocked at that statement or did not know how to answer her. I mean, it's like going into KFC and go, "I would like to have some chicken." It's a popcorn counter, for crying out loud...

Lady: "Yeah, I would like to have some popcorn."
PL@ C: "What type?"
Lady: "Sweet one."

at this point of time, I thought, gosh, this is going to take forever.

PL@ C: "Okay. Would like to try our combo set?"
Lady: "Sorry?"
PL@ C: "...."

well, you know where this is going. Basically, it took another 5-8 full minutes before this lady got her Regular Caramel Popcorn Combo with Coke (which is, by the way, clearly written on the Menu Board over the counter)

-Chapter Two-
Then there were these ang mohs in the cinema. I sat in front of them, smack right in the center of the cinema. We were still early, like 5-10 minutes before the movie started. Then the lights were suddenly turned off. AngMoh.A said to AngMoh.B, "Whoa, 5 minutes before the screening starts."

AM.B: "How do you know?"
AM.A: "Trust me on this, dude. I know these things."

...silence...

AM.A: "I hope this cinema features that latest cinema technology where the white screen (supposed to be silver screen, but nevermind...) drops down."
AM.B: "What are you talking about, man?"
AM.A: "You know, those that can shrink on the sides? From a bigger screen to a smaller one?"
AM.B: "Whathe...? Pbbbhh...! Those were the black curtains drawn from the sides! And it doesn't drop down, the curtains draw up, idiot!"

at this point of time two things happened:
a. AM.B's faith/trust on the "5-minute before screening" statement was running pretty low
b. I turned and took a look at these guys (in a cool way, trying not to make it look too obvious that I was looking at them...). And these guys were like in their mid-20s!

AM.A: "Oh? Really?"

But, gotta give AM.A the credit, that the screening did start 5 minutes after the lights were dimmed.

AM.A: "See, I told you!"
AM.B: "..."

-Chapter Three-
The previews came up first, as usual, I mean everyone knew that. The intro was something like "A movie by ICE Productions" or something like that and it had Chinese characters below that.

AM.A: "Man, are we in the right cinema?"

Some shuffling happened behind. Did not turn to see. Was concentrating on the Preview of Jackie Chan's New Police Story. My guess was that they must have searched for their tickets to confirm or something like that. In the midst of doing that, they must have guessed that it was the preview...

AM.B: "Dude, it's a preview..."

... affirmative.

I thought that was quite an interesting scene, which I would normally expect to see it in a Hollywood movie, but this one just happened in front (or, physically at the back) of my eyes. :)

boon out...
