Absurd Speed limits...
For those who have traveled and drove around in Penang before can identify the with me. I am talking about roads that I use quite regularly during my daily commute. First of all, Penang's infamous Coastal Highway linking the Free Industrial Zone and Georgetown (with the new Jelutong Expressway, JE). The speed limit for the stretch between the F.I.Z. and the highway exit to the Penang bridge used to be 80 km/h. Recently, the speed limit has been reduced to 70 km/h. Mind you, for those who have no idea what the highway look like - at some parts of the highway, there are three gigantic lanes, but being Malaysian roads, the three lanes soon narrow down to two.

Anyways...

Don't think that is bad enough... check this out...

The road leading up to Mt. Erksine (yeah, the very winding road) - the speed limit there is 50 km/h. You can almost NEVER do 50 if you really value your life... or you wanna join the Extreme Sports in AXN or something and drive off the cliff...

still not awed? Well, get ready...

The road leading into Batu Ferringhi (yeah, another winding road) - the speed limit is 60km/h.

Both the above roads are single carriage and very winding (have I emphasized that point enough?). And the 3-lane Coastal Highway is 70km/h.

So, keep an eye out for these speed limits the next time you are around...

Amazing? Believe it or not...
