boon's log 0632.03: Clear skies...

Have been waking up rather early these past few days due to work - yeah, that's life. The good thing, however, about waking up so early was the blessing of a pleasing view of the Penang Bridge with it's typical early morning rush hour traffic and the view of the eastern side of the Penang island. It rained a little yesterday - actually patches of rain here and there, but it helped with clearing the air a little. Looks like a real good clear start for the day. hope your day will be a good one... It's quite a serene atmosphere - that is, if you can filter out the occasional high-pitched exhaust from the motorbikes...

Speaking of motorbikes, a few nights ago, IL and I were driving over the hill on Yeap Chor Ee road in Penang. As we accended the hill towards Bukit Jambul direction, I noticed a Police patrol car behind me and I allowed him to overtake, thinking that he may be in a hurry to somewhere, saving the world, saving Penang; since he was following quite closely.

As we were descending, there were a group of 10-15 bikers congregating at the turning as the hill-road decended. As you can imagine, their motorbikes were parked alongside the road "eating" into the inner lane. We thought it was either one of 2 things - either an accident or illegal racing or just some bikers decided to lepak at the bahu of the jalan in the middle of the night

Anyway, what we noticed was - the patrol car slowed down just a little and then speeded off and did not stop. We were baffled. A few questions popped up in our minds - Why didn't the policeman(men) stop to check out what's happening - it could have been an accident and someone needed help? Did the policeman(men) just conveniently drive off to avoid causing inconvenience to themselves? Or did they drive off because they were outnumbered and did they drive off to get back-up? but then again, could they not have radioed for back-up? interesting... Well, I hope that everything was okay with the group of bikers and that no damage was done - either to themselves or to others...

boon out...
