boon's log 5006.06: The new arrival...

The Babe-mobile

It's been a busy, busy 2 weeks - juggling between our new arrival and work. Yup, the December Babe has finally arrived, and quite on time too! AB arrived on the 1st of Dec, weighing a healthy 3.09kg and in the pink of health as well, opening her eyes almost as soon as she came out - searching for mom and dad, I suppose (yeah right!).

We were in and out of the hospital for her check-up and as well as mom's check-up. Jaundice was finally down to a safe level after her first week and now all's well and full speed ahead to her very first month(!), what the Chinese calls it the Full Month.

AB's arrival has been a new major milestone for everyone in the family - us as parents and our parents as grandparents and our grandparents' promoted to become great-grandparents(!). It's truly an indescribable feeling, really. The moment she arrived, the moment when the midwife shouted her last "PUSH!" and when AB finally arrived, when we heard the first cry from our little baby, tears of joy just uncontrolably and automatically rolled down our cheeks. As what what one of my colleagues said before - those are the moments in life when you wish you could just bottled 'em up and keep them - and un-cap them later when your children are all grown up and when you feel like "strangling" them! Witnessing new life being brought in to the earth is truly amazing and miraculous.

And to imagine that just a few months ago, she was just this puny, little fellow inside mommy's "tummy", that we need the help of technology to monitor her growth and making sure that she's all well and healthy...

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

She's really a darling! I'm pretty sure that her grandparents are going to spoil her so much - as with most grandparents. I've heard of stories where my uncle brought her grand-daughter to McDonald's, even though her parents gave strict instructions not to do so! Ha ha! OHhhh... boy!

We've been asked how it's been so far for us - who takes the night shift and who takes the day shift, our standard reply was since she arrived, there's pretty much no night and no day. :) Our attention is constantly being redirected (no matter what we're doing) as soon as she cries. She's practically the focus of our lives right now, our time and attention is orbitting around AB. So much so that 2 weeks has passed without us really knowing it.

At times when the crying seems endless and when we did not know what else to do - we would wonder when would she would grow out of that, but at the same time, we also wish that she does not grow up that fast... sounds confusing, but I guess those parents out there would identify with us.

It's been great so far. We do not mind the sleepless nights and endless cries. Somehow, we find that our patience level has levitated - or maybe it is just with AB. Ha! More updates to come...

boon out...
